Now, if you are missing a single tooth or an entire mouthful of teeth, you have options to complete your smile. In addition to conventional dental bridges and removable partial and full dentures, some dentists in Fort Worth, TX offer bridges and dentures that are supported by dental implants. Replacing your teeth with implants is a three-step process: planning, placement, and restoration. Unlike other dentists’ offices, Sycamore Dental has the capabilities on site to handle all three steps. Dr. Vidya Suri doesn’t have to refer you to a specialist for some aspects of the implant procedure, which adds to the cost, inconvenience, and stress. You benefit from a superior form of tooth replacement, from the team that you already know and trust.
As with other treatments, Dr. Suri will examine your mouth, and discuss your goals and personal preferences. The idea is to understand your needs, and to determine the types of tooth replacement that might work best for you over the long haul. If implants are appropriate for you, she will identify where to place the implant in the jaw. Made from a biocompatible material, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone. It functions like a tooth root to support the dental restoration that is visible above the gumline. Some patients who have experienced bone loss, may need to have bony tissue in the jaw “built up.” So, the jawbone can adequately support the implant.
The process of placing implants in the jaw is straightforward; we can discuss anesthetic and sedative options for utmost comfort and relaxation during treatment. Dr. Suri makes a small opening in those areas that were pinpointed during planning. This opening is needed to access the underlying tissues, where the implant is placed. Implants are so precisely and strategically applied that as few as four implants may be necessary to support an upper or lower arch of replacement teeth. In the months following placement, the implant and bone “osseointegrate” and heal. The rooted implant can then function to stabilize the overlying replacement teeth.

Implants may be topped or restored with a single porcelain crown. Dr. Suri may also securely support a bridge with implants, rather than by reducing neighboring teeth. Conventional bridges are anchored by adjacent teeth, which must be crowned. And all crowns require some removal of natural tooth structure. So, the crown can fit over the tooth perfectly. Likewise, partial or complete dentures may be attached into place with components such as clasps. These dentures are “fixed.” They do not rely on natural suction in the mouth or adhesives for their support. They can also be treated like natural teeth, no need for special cleansers or cleaning routines.
