Partial denturesA partial denture replaces one or more missing teeth in a framework made of metal or resin. In either case, the denture clips to adjacent teeth for stability, and is removed for cleaning. A “flipper” is an interim partial denture, usually worn until the final denture can be fabricated at an off-site lab, or while dental implants heal.
Full denturesA full denture is a complete arch of teeth, either upper or lower. Typically, full dentures are designed, created, and fitted after teeth have been extracted and soft and hard tissues have healed. These prosthetics consist of a gum-colored acrylic base, with teeth made of plastic or porcelain. Natural suction hold the arch in place.
Specialized denturesDr. Suri also provides:
- Immediate dentures – Made in advance, then inserted immediately after teeth are extracted. The denture protects the mouth as it heals and you don’t have to go a day without teeth. Eventually, the denture may need to be re-lined to adjust fit.
- Implant supported dentures – Just a few dental implants hold a full denture securely, for unsurpassed stability and chewing function. This is a good choice for a lower arch that tends to slip. An implant retained upper denture may not cover the roof of the mouth, for more natural feel and taste.
